Genealogy Volunteers at the Kansas City Irish Fest

We had over 150 ‘genealogy appointments’ during our Irish Festival this year.  Many of the appointments had the whole family sitting down with a volunteer.  They all wanted to find their connection to Ireland!

We had 8 computer stations staffed with volunteers.  We were located inside the Crown Center atrium.  Amy, my co-chair has developed a system for people to register for an appointment.  Then they can go listen to music, shop or find some great food and wait for a text for their appointment.

The Ulster History Foundation provided special maps that we handed out when we found  ancestors from Ulster! These maps were a special gift from Ireland!

I want to thank all the people from: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington who visited the genealogy area this year! I don’t have the official attendance figures, but I am thinking about 115,000 attended over the three days!

I also want to thank the many Irish Fest Genealogy volunteers for making such great memories for our patrons!
